Nelson Henry Jr., Honorably Discharged After 75 Years, Dies Of Coronavirus At 96 | Sunday TODAY


Nelson Henry Jr. joined the Army Specialized Training Program in college during World War II. In 1945, he was given a blue discharge, placed mostly on African American and gay soldiers, impacting their military benefits and serving as a signal to employers. Recently Henry’s family took up his fight for an honorable discharge, and after 75 years, he finally got it. Henry died in Philadelphia at age 96 of complications from the coronavirus.
